Summer Reading 2026

2026 Unearth a Story
The 2026 Summer Reading Theme is Unearth a Story!

Summer Reading 2026, “Unearth a Story” kicks off on June 18th at 11am with a special live-animal ambassador visit from VINS, presenting their incredible Birds are Dinosaurs program. Learn the story of how modern birds descended from dinosaurs and get a chance to see real life “raptors” in the library!

The annual summer reading program combines a series of events (TBA!) for children, teens, and adults, which include fan-favorites like our annual Stuffed Animal Sleepover, the Frozen T-Shirt Challenge, tie dying, and of course our Ice Cream Finale. Watch for news coming out soon!

The second part of summer reading is the incentive to keep reading every day throughout the summer. This is the heart of our program. Kids come to the library where they can access a great variety of excellent reading materials, and feel encouraged though earning beads for their brag-tag necklace, ice cream coupons, and free books for their home libraries. When children have access to these things, they are much less likely to suffer from summer learning loss.
