On the first floor, next to the copier, is the door to the Newport Room. This study/meeting room seats up to 4 people and also houses a public computer.
On the 2nd and 3rd floor there are six meeting rooms for use by community members. The Hale Room has space for groups of up to ten people, the Yeomans Room up to eight people, the Andler Room up to 2 people, the Elaine Frank Room up to eight people, the De Paola Room up to four children with up to two adults (an adult must be with the children at all times), and the Ballroom is available for groups up to fifty people with approval of the Library Director.
All of these rooms are available free of charge to local nonprofit organizations engaging in educational, cultural, or charitable activities or events, although donations to help with the upkeep of rooms are always welcome. These rooms can be reserved by contacting the library. Library sponsored events and activities are given priority.
All of these rooms, with the exception of the Ballroom, are offered free of charge to commercial organizations or for private social functions. The Ballroom is available to commercial organizations or for private social functions for a fee of $50.00 a day. (See the Richards Free Library Ballroom Reservation Payment Form.) If you need a room for study or for a small meeting, or if you need a place to have a larger meeting or event, please call Richards Free Library at 603-863-3430 to reserve one of these rooms.
The rooms are only available for use during normal library operating hours.
Rules Governing Use of Library Rooms
- The responsible person must be 18 years of age or older.
- Rooms may be reserved for no more than once a month by one organization. Exceptions to this rule may be approved by the Library Director.
- Reservations can be scheduled up to six months in advance.
- The Library Director reserves the right to cancel any reservation in case of emergencies.
- The Library Director reserves the right to revoke the use of rooms at their discretion.
- Any organization renting a library room is responsible for letting it be known that their meetings or events are NOT ENDORSED BY THE LIBRARY.
- Rooms are only available during regular library open hours.
- Rooms must be left clean and orderly or a fee will be charged.
- All rubbish must be removed.
- Furniture must be replaced to original position.
- Windows must be closed and locked.
- Floors must be swept or mopped if necessary.
- Bathroom must be cleaned if necessary.
- All lights must be turned off.
- Nothing may be attached to the walls of any meeting room.
- No alcoholic beverages may be served at non-library events.
- No smoking or vaping is allowed on library property.
- Groups or organizations using the library rooms are subject to all library rules and may not disturb others.
- The library must be notified as soon as possible of cancellations.
- The library does not provide audio-visual equipment.
- Individuals are encouraged to obtain event insurance for the day they are using the room. They may be required to provide proof of a certificate of insurance.
