We’re Hiring! Local History Librarian Position

Do you love local history? Are you interested in helping people with research questions? Are you organized and ready to dive into some projects? JOB DESCRIPTION

1. Catalog resources to insure that historical materials are accessible to the public.

2. Maintain the historical collections through inventory, conservation, and preservation procedures.

3. Work with other local historical organizations to promote the preservation and interest in New Hampshire history.

4. Add to the historical collections by soliciting materials and recommending for purchase of suitable materials.

5. Provide reference services by responding to genealogical and historical information inquiries.

6. Assist patrons with library needs. Provide quick reference, detailed research and reader’s advisory assistance.

7. Oversee Hale Award Collection.

 8.  Perform other duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Strong computer skills and comfort learning new databases
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Comfort with presenting to groups and teaching classes
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, staff of other libraries, and the public
  • Ability to conduct oneself with tact and courtesy
  • Be physically able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Cataloging experience or coursework
  • Customer Service experience
  • MLS or within one semester of graduation
  • Interest in local town, state, and regional history

STATUS: This position is part time: 15 hours per week, one evening per week.
HOURLY RATE: $18-20 per hour depending on experience
CLOSING DATE: August 19, 2022
GOAL STARTING DATE: September 19, 2022

We’re Hiring! Library Page Position

JOB DESCRIPTION

  1. Responsible for shelving all materials.
  2. Responsible for the physical upkeep of library materials, shelves and library reading areas.
  3. Responsible for kitchen cleanup at the end of the day.
  4. Assists with circulation desk duties.
  5. Maintains basement storage areas.
  6. Maintain public bulletin boards.
  7. Brings festival items to upper floors.
  8. Assists Youth Services Librarian with summer reading program and displays throughout the year.
  9. Assists with Library Cat related tasks. (We have two library cats).
  10. Performs other duties as required.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Be physically able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Knowledge of a variety of hardware and software as well as Internet services
  • Ability to use computers and to utilize computer databases
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, staff of other libraries, and the public
  • Ability to conduct oneself with tact and courtesy

STATUS: This position is part time: 9-10 hours per week, every other Saturday and evening hours required
HOURLY RATE: $9.50 per hour
CLOSING DATE: August 12, 2022
GOAL STARTING DATE: August 22, 2022
