The First First Monday

First MondayThe Friends of the Library have begun a new activity.  They will gather on the first Monday of each Month from 9:00 – 11:00 while the library is closed to work on various projects.   This month they took down the holiday decorations and then proceeded to make sure that books were in the correct order on the shelves. Projects will vary each month and there are always books to be dusted and arranged.  If you would like to participate, join the Friends on the First Monday in February (2nd) at 9:00.

 

1000 Books Before Kindergarten

Sign up your child to read 1000 books before kindergarten, and get a packet full of helpful tips to help you keep track of your reading.
Let’s commit to helping prepare all our little ones for school! Reading works!

The 1000 Books Before Kindergarten kickoff starts August 12th, 10:00 am. Come sign up your child to have 1000 books read aloud before kindergarten!

Richards Free Library 125th Anniversary Celebration Quilt

Make sure your name is part of this historical commemorative to Newport’s Richards Free Library! This signature quilt, highlighting the library’s history and service, will contain the embroidered signatures of all participants and hang in a place of honor at the library. Groups and individuals who wish to participate can obtain an easy to use Quilt Square Packet at the library between April 12 and August 23, 2014. The packet contains quilt square and full directions on how to participate. We ask for a donation of $40.00 for each square, or $5.00 per signature. Your participation will document for all time your support of the library and also insure that the Richards Free Library remains a vibrant part of the Newport community.
