This portrait of Elizabeth A. (Lizzie) Richards was recently donated to the Richards Free Library by her niece Margaret Richards Chapman. It hangs in the second floor hallway along with portraits of Lizzie’s father Dexter Richards and her brother Seth Mason Richards. When Lizzie died at the age of twenty her father donated a new organ to Newport’s South Congregational Church in her memory. Part of that organ remains as the case for the present organ, with the original memorial plaque still attached.
