Beasley & Ferber Estate Planning Seminar

September 25, 2023

Join us Wednesday, Oct. 25 for ‘End-of-life Planning: Three Keys to Avoiding Financial Ruin’

A long-term care crisis can devastate a family and its finances. Nobody “wants” to go to a nursing home…and almost nobody “needs” to lose their life savings if it happens. At this free and educational legal seminar, Attorney Edward Beasley will discuss how to protect against the potentially catastrophic effects of a nursing-home stay; bullet-proofing trusts from nursing-home costs; shielding inheritance funds from outside creditors and divorcing spouses of adult children; avoiding the costly and public probate process; and more. The seminar is highly engaging, conversational in nature and is a no-pressure event. Special guest Greg Gagne of Affinity Investment Group will provide important financial and economic insight. Join us at the Richards Free Library on Wednesday, Oct. 25 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. To register, go to www.beasleyferber.com or call 1-800-3705010.

BIOS

Attorney Edward Beasley has been practicing elder law in New Hampshire and Massachusetts for 30 years, with a sole focus on helping people of modest means access tools to protect their home and life savings. A Dartmouth alum, Attorney Beasley is the author of several books on the subject, including “The Optimum Estate Plan: Trusts for the Average Person” and “Estate Planning for the Informed Consumer.”

Greg Gagne is founder of Affinity Investment Group, which offers wealth management and distribution-planning services for retirees or those planning to retire. The past president of New Hampshire’s chapter of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors, Greg is a frequent presenter on these subjects and has also co-authored the above-mentioned books.

Haunted Lighthouses of New England

September 25, 2023

Join us 7pm on Zoom for Haunted Lighthouses of New England with Jeremy D’Entremont.

Lighthouses and ghost stories often seem to go hand in hand. Jeremy will be telling us about the mysterious Woman in White in the Isles of Shoals and the spirit of a drowned lighthouse keeper at Penfield Reef in Connecticut, as well as some of the paranormal investigations he’s been part of — and much more.

Jeremy D’Entremont is the president and historian of the American Lighthouse Foundation, historian for the U.S. Lighthouse Society, and the author of more than 20 books and hundreds of articles on lighthouses and maritime history. He’s the producer and host of the U.S. Lighthouse Society’s podcast, Light Hearted. He has appeared on the popular Ghost Hunters TV show, as well as Haunted Lighthouses of America on the Travel Channel. He has also appeared on the History Channel, Public Television, and National Public Radio speaking about lighthouses.

Back to school, back to the library

August 28, 2023

The Richards Free Library staff invite Newport students and their guardians to our “Back to School” nights here at the library to meet Mo, our Youth Services Librarian, and Molly, our Youth Services Assistant. Mo and Molly will have a craft for the kids, tweens, and teens to enjoy, and will be able to chat and answer any questions caregivers may have. Join us September 5th or 7th from 2:30-5pm. If those times don’t work for you, but you’d like to meet with Mo and Molly, please email Mo at mchurchill@newport.lib.nh.us

We always look forward to the school year and the excitement of having students enjoy the library after school. Please remember, the library is not responsible for your child. They are required to follow our behavior policy. If they receive 3 warnings about not following the policy, they will be asked to leave the library grounds for the day. Please make a plan with your child so they know where to go if they are asked to leave the premises.
