We are seeking an outgoing, community-focused, self-motivated Front Desk Library Assistant to work 30+ hours per week, including some Saturdays, as the primary staff member at our combination circulation/reference front desk. The successful candidate will have a passion for providing excellent customer service as part of a small, cohesive, team-focused staff.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Utilizes the library’s integrated library system software to answer patron questions, update records, place reserves for items, and more.
- Supports collection development by assisting with weeding and periodical inventories.
- Creates dynamic, interesting, eye-catching book displays in the circulation area.
- Ensures the foyer, circulation area, restroom, and front desk spaces are tidy at all times.
CIRCULATION AND PATRON SERVICES
- Works at the front desk Monday through Friday during the day, as well as some Saturdays.
- Registers new patrons and issues library cards.
- Assists patrons with navigating the library catalog and locating lending materials.
- Assists with readers’ advisory, including recommendations from within the collection.
- Assists patrons in using the computers and copy machine.

- Strong clerical experience preferred. Office management experience is a plus.
- Experience with Canva, Mailchimp, WordPress website administration is a plus.
Minimum requirements (training, skills, education, experience):
- High School diploma or GED
- Successful experience as an employee in a customer-focused environment is a plus.

Hiring Wage Range:
$17.00 – $19.00/hour. Must be available to work all hours of library operations including some Saturdays.
